How to Get Misprint Joker in Balatro

The Misprint Joker is available in Balatro by default. You can get it at random throughout your runs using the regular means you usually use to get Jokers. Just be patient; eventually, it will be there for the party.

When you do get it, you will notice that this Joker is glitching out, constantly changing its text and values. This makes the function of the Misprint Joker pretty unclear to many players, but I’ve managed to test the card and establish what it does.

Before I tell you how you can unlock everything in Balatro, you need to know that there is an Unlock All button you can press which is found under Reset Profile directly after creating a new profile that unlocks everything in the game.

I don’t recommend using this because it takes a lot of the fun out of Balatro and disables achievements for that profile. But if you don’t care about spoilers, it’s not a bad idea to press Unlock All to see what’s in store. Or you can just keep reading this guide and earn your unlocks.

X3 mult if all cards held in hand are spades or clubs

Any ‘X’ multiplier can be game changing in Balatro, and since the Blackboard Joker is fairly common, it’s a great one to start with. It means you need to only have black cards left in your visible deck after playing a hand. In other words, get rid of hearts and diamonds by playing them, and you’ll get a X3 to any existing multipliers.

Balatro has received a brand-new update that not only makes the game much easier across all Stakes but also adds new Jokers into the pack.

Balatro’s first major update, 1.0.1, is making some seriously big changes. The first major change is to Ante scaling. The White Stake will have reduced score scaling on Antes 3 and 4. There are also tweaks to the scaling on Antes in both the Purple and Green Stakes as well. Finally, card packs will no longer get progressively more expensive per Ante in the Orange Stake, thus further tweaking the difficulty.

It can seem a little confusing at first glance, so let us explain what the Balatro negative effect is. A true blessing in disguise.

If you see a Joker with the Negative effect implied, it simply means that it gives you one additional Joker slot, which is a massive bonus. The ‘negative’ in this instance doesn’t mean there is any unpleasant addition to the card. Instead, it refers to the color negative visual effect applied to the card, like in photography.

Balatro has well over 100 Jokers to find, unlock, and collect. Each Joker is a unique blend of mechanics and interactions that help mould your run into something truly unique every time you boot the game. Whilst rarity doesn’t necessarily translate to power directly, rarer Jokers do tend to have more complex mechanics.

Balatro is a deck-building roguelite that takes poker and makes it infinitely replayable and utterly engaging.

The Obelisk is a Rare Joker card in Balatrothat multiplies the Mult for scoring poker hands. It starts with a x1 Mult, but every time you play a poker hand that isn’t the one you’ve currently played the most, it adds x0.2 to its Mult multiplier. Legendary Jokers in Balatro are not like your regular Joker and cannot be found in the Shop or from Buffoon Packs. You can only obtain Legendary Jokers by opening Spectral Packs and getting the Soul Card.

The Soul Card spawns randomly in Spectral Packs and even has a very, very low chance of being generated in Arcana Packs. Once you pick and play the Soul Card, a random Legendary Joker will be added to your Joker collection.

If you’re looking for a Balatro Joker tier list and gives you a rundown of the best Jokers to use in every run, look no further.

First, a disclaimer: most of the Jokers in Balatro are perfectly playable. And because this is a roguelike game, you’re bound to find some unique combination of five or six Jokers that will create some sort of broken synergy that completely works for you. With a total of 150 Jokers in the game, it’s difficult to point to any one card and say that’s the best in the game, but from our experience, here’s our tier list based on what we’ve found really worked across multiple runs:

Starting with a standard 52-card deck, you’ll be dealt cards with which you must play a scoring poker hand. This could be a simple pair, a flush (five cards of the same suit), or a straight (five cards that rank up in sequence). Doing so scales the amount of chips you’ll earn, as well as a multiplier (referred to in-game as ‘mult’). The formula - chips multiplied by mult - is your score for that hand. You have a limited number of hands per round, and you must cross the score threshold to move up to the next.

Balatro’s order of operations.

Yes, the order your Jokers are in does matter. Unless otherwise stated, Joker card effects trigger from left to right. This means that +Mult and XMult effects will trigger in the order their respective cards are in. In order to maximize your score with the largest Mult, you should ensure your +Mult Jokers are to the left of your XMult Jokers.

Here’s an example of me doubling my score with the same three Jokers simply by ordering them differently.

Balatro has a very basic concept that slowly becomes more complex as you dive deeper into the game’s mechanics and start forming your deck. Every basic card has a value equal to each card’s face. You pull a number of cards from your deck and create a hand consisting of up to five cards. These hands play in accordance to the traditional point mechanics in traditional poker. You get points for the type of hand you play plus the value each card played. There are various bonuses that multiply the total score, awarding you with a number of chips at the end of every hand, with the goal being to beat the various predetermined score which must be beaten before the number of playable hands reaches zero.

Balatro’s Update 1.0.1c adds new qualities to Jokers and makes other changes that might make harder difficulties a bit easier.Source: Balatro Balatro Update 1.0.1c was deployed in Steam’s Betas system alongside a set of patch notes that were shared on the game’s Discord, as posted on Reddit. Only PC players can jump in at the moment, and to do so, you must click on the gear icon on the Balatro Steam library entry, then Properties > Betas > Beta Participation and select the public_experimental option. Some of the more interesting changes include new tags on Jokers on higher difficulties, including the “Perishable” tag on Orange Stake, disabling that card after 5 rounds, and the “Rental” tag, which lets that card be bought for $1, but cost $3 per round.
