Tags are activated as soon as a Blind is skipped, and it is particularly important to be aware of this fact when pursuing a Tag that will put a Balatro card that can be purchased into to the next shop. Indeed, players that do not keep the immediate activation of Tags in mind may find themselves unable to take advantage of their bonuses because they do not have enough money.
Balatro: Should You Skip Blinds for Tags?
While it can definitely be worth skipping Blinds in order to receive desirable Tags, the act is not without its drawbacks. For example, players who skip a Blind will not receive the money that they would have for completing it, and they will not have an opportunity to make purchases from the Shop before the next round. Additionally, there are certain Jokers in Balatro, such as Runner, that upgrade cards and themselves during a round, making it even more detrimental to pursue Tags.
Balatro: What is a Double Tag?
A Double Tag is a Tag that gives players a copy of the next Tag that they pursue. To concretize this idea with an example, if a player skipped a Blind in order to receive a Double Tag and then skipped a Blind for a Tag that grants a free Spectral Pack, they would receive two free Spectral Packs in Balatro.
One additional thing to know about the Double Tag is that it is possible to have more than one at a time. This situation arises when multiple Double Tags are pursued before any other type of Tag is targeted, and Balatro’s Anaglyph Deck is great at facilitating that. Notably, all accumulated Double Tags will trigger when another type of Tag is finally obtained, giving players multiple copies of the Tag’s effect simultaneously.
